The days when a sales representative could walk into a hospital are long gone due to the pandemic hangover. Adapting to the ongoing difficulty of scheduling in-person hospital meetings and with a nod to the popularity of “unboxings” in the consumer world, ivWatch developed a package they could send to clinicians, doctors, and nurses either at their home or hospital that creates an immersive product demonstration experience while educating them about the importance of IV safety.
Because ivWatch is the only technology that exists to monitor and prevent IV injury via leakage outside of the vein, potential customers generally have no idea what to expect the product to look like or how it functions. There is no roadmap, so the ivWatch marketing team is essentially starting from zero in terms of customer understanding and experience. The team must fill a clinical gap in IV therapy knowledge.
This box has changed all of that. It contains educational materials on how IV infiltrations occur and includes an info packet highlighting its six FDA clearances and 30+ clinical studies conducted. Simultaneously, it is a modular system that can be easily customized for each specific recipient’s organization.
The look and feel of the package is consumer-oriented, with a sleek yet accessible graphic design more reminiscent of a well-designed smartphone than a piece of medical technology and an actual-size image of the monitor that acts as a show and tell. The box also includes sample sensors that can be unwrapped and even placed on the recipient’s skin in order to understand not only the functionality but the feel of the sensor.
The Kit has proven a powerful tool and is now used in strategic conversations with distributors, hospitals, potential partners, and the media. It has also come to serve another purpose: Current ivWatch customers keep it handy so that they can easily share it with anyone who needs to be brought up to speed on what ivWatch is and how it works, such as new hospital clinicians, and even patients. This small black box has it all.
