In June 2022, my husband proposed on the University of Miami campus, where we first met seven years prior. We began dating during the first weekend of college, and because of that, we have essentially grown up together. We met at an extraordinarily pivotal time in both of our lives and have been together through the ups, and downs, questionable haircuts, multiple career aspirations, failures, and successes. As a graphic/packaging designer, I made it my mission to tell our story from the start to the present through our entire wedding suite.
Marrying into the name Fishman, Our Save the Date showcased a custom "Swedish Fish" enamel pin my husband and I designed together and on the back, an illustrated timeline of our relationship milestones by Julia Gash — an artist heavily featured in our college bookstore. This candy theme continued in our thank-you notes with a custom lining, scalloped card with spot gloss kissing fish, and an embossed F on the exterior envelope.
The official invitation added Easter egg illustrations for guests to connect with through shared memories across the exterior doors and inside lining. Upon opening, a 3D layered shadow box was revealed, creating a special moment for our guests. To take it even further, we created an AR experience. When opened in Instagram / Facebook, fireworks erupted as the center 3D image was revealed. The opening experience was an exciting prelude to the actual event.
