This artwork centers around the Qilin, a mythical creature of good fortune in Chinese tradition. Drawing inspiration from Han dynasty stone carving, it immortalizes the serene posture of the Qilin enjoying a moment of tranquility after savoring a cup of Qilin Da Kou Cha. The Qilin's gaze, turned back in contemplation, suggests a lingering enjoyment of the tea's rich aroma, exuding an air of contentment and satisfaction. Its body is adorned with scales, meticulously carved in symmetrical, vertical patterns, using the chisel as a brush. This technique, applied to the unforgiving stone, embodies the spirit of order, harmony, and meticulous craftsmanship.
Maximalism, a style that embraces elaborate details, ornate embellishments, and intricate decoration, utilizes a rich tapestry of colors, textures, patterns, and ornament to create vibrantly emotive designs. This aesthetic evokes a sense of grandeur, luxury, and lavishness, reminiscent of royal heritage.
Throughout history, both in the East and West, art and architecture have served as powerful instruments for expressing power and authority. The grandeur and dignity of rulers were displayed through intricate decorative elements, motifs, colors, and vast architectural complexes, reflecting the prosperity and affluence of their societies.
Drawing inspiration from the colors of royal attire, we extract imperial yellow and royal blue, hues traditionally employed in ancient courts to showcase power, wealth, and status. The intent is to create a sense of overwhelming awe and visual impact, evoking a feeling of opulent complexity and luxurious grandeur.
The auspicious Kirin emblem artfully blends elements of Eastern culture with modern design principles, showcasing a unique artistic charm. The piece symbolizes the good fortune brought by auspicious omens, and further conveys a passion and pursuit for a beautiful life. This resonates with the spirit of tea artisans who dedicate their lives to crafting a single, perfect cup of tea.
