The National Museum of History worked with professional art therapists from the Taiwan Art Therapy Association to develop the “Story Box of Creative Aging: Impressions of Home” collection of archetypal learning resource cards and lesson plans designed for the elderly. The cards and associated activities aim to stimulate creativity, enhancing the sense of self-worth and interpersonal interaction among participants. The cover features a keyhole through which memories of home appear, conveying each person’s unique conception of family.
To help educators better use and carry the materials, as well as reduce production costs to further alleviate the burden on partners, the museum in 2023 updated the Story Box of Creative Aging handbook for long-term care professionals. Contained within a folder are eight operating Instructions, 16 cards with items from the museum collection, magnifying glasses for ease of reading, and an instruction guide. The materials allow long-term caregivers to creatively apply museum collections according to the needs of their profession and those under their care, achieving the goal of co-creation.
