Named as the opening exhibition, this exhibition first revolves around the thinking about self-survival space triggered by the epidemic. From the opening to the closure in the epidemic era to the return from private to public in the post-epidemic era, the spread of space not only represents the physical distance from the outside world, but also triggers heterogeneous thinking in the psychological space. Inspired by the French philosopher Foucault's concept of "heterotopia", the exhibition is titled "The Heterogeneous Domain Beyond Dreams", which reproduces all kinds of real and abnormal heterogeneous spaces in life through digital media.
This exhibition is divided into 3 units: "Limited Space", "Microscopic Eye" and "Pause Place", with a total of 26 groups of digital video works on display. They ignore the prefabricated real living structure, use digital technology to process images, and realize the imaginary world in multiple ways. While keeping a gap distance from reality, they make the invisible things visible, eliminate the binary opposition between abnormality and normality, and redefine our living space.
The Liminal Space(Unit 1): In this digital-reality interface, a liminal space exists, shaped by personal perspectives and interpretations. Its ambiguity can induce disconnection and unease, fostering a fluid state of being and sparking imagination. Artists engaging with digital media question our reality's essence amidst technological proliferation.
The Micro Sight(Unit 2): Amid societal narratives, especially during the pandemic, individuals found themselves in micro-heterogeneous spaces—observers yet separate. Artists, through their "micro sight," explore and reconstruct personal experiences and relationships with the world.
The Temporary-stay Site(Unit 3): Pandemic-induced restrictions led to introspective periods for artists, who created temporary spaces for reflection and self-examination. These sites offer respite and encourage contemplation of identity and existence.
