At 2024’s San Diego Comic-Con, the LEGO Group aimed to captivate fans with a unified theme focused on Space Exploration. Enter Space Station 8R1CK5—a 2,400 square foot immersive experience that invited visitors into a LEGO-themed space station. Here, fans could dive deep into the wonders of space through interactive displays, hands-on activities, and innovative LEGO creations.

One of the key attractions was the opportunity to build your own LEGO creations, from custom rockets to aliens and beyond. Once completed, fans could launch them into orbit—quite literally—by placing them in front of a massive LED screen backdrop, which captured a video of their creations. A striking LEGO space mural provided further engagement, inviting visitors to add their own creations to an expanding LEGO Space Fleet. To top off the experience, guests were given an exclusive embroidered patch, proudly marking them as honorary members of the LEGO Mission Crew.

At the heart of the booth was an octagonal display case with a satellite-inspired spire, crowned by the iconic LEGO Space logo. This structure highlighted LEGO space-themed sets, drawing visitors’ attention to new products. Surrounding the central case, displays showcased creations from other LEGO universes, including LEGO Fortnite, LEGO Marvel, Disney, and the newly launched LEGO DREAMZzz. One display also featured UPOs (Unidentified Playing Objects), which showcased LEGO spacecrafts designed by children.

The LEGO Star Wars section was another standout, featuring life-sized, brick-built animatronics R2-D2 and Jedi Vader from the LEGO Star Wars Rebuild the Galaxy special. Additional product displays celebrated the 25th anniversary of LEGO Star Wars.

Beyond the Space Station itself, fans could participate in the LEGO Space Explorer’s Challenge, a digital scavenger hunt that led them on a photo-based quest across the venue. By completing daily challenges, participants had the chance to win exclusive LEGO prizes, including signed LEGO Star Wars sets.

With over 64k attendees over the weekend, 8,558 rockets built and a solid 8:39 minute dwell time, Space Station 8R1CK5 was the can-not-miss booth at Comic-Con sparking imagination and creativity, and bringing the wonder of space exploration to fans of all ages.
