As part of the new CNN Saturday line-up, "First of All with Victor Blackwell" brings a fresh perspective on the week’s news with a focus on stories affecting communities of color. Having created sonic branding for several CNN programs including "News Central" and "Aiming for Gold," SAM was asked to compose a theme that feels sharp and sophisticated, yet approachable with a more casual weekend attitude.
SAM began the custom theme with an R&B-inspired bassline accompanied by a percussion-forward groove to establish the engaging vibe. As the piece develops, a rhythmic piano leads the crescendo into strings and a more sophisticated orchestral section, giving audiences a sense of the show’s depth and intelligence.
The creative blend of bass, percussion and strings gives "First of All" a distinct sound from other news programs that hits all the right notes with its Saturday audience.
