Amid the concrete jungle and the hectic pace of modern life, people often lose the capacity for childlike wonder and imagination. To rekindle the desire for adventure and beauty reminiscent of childhood, the designer drew inspiration from fairy tales such as The Wizard of Oz, blending local Taiwanese flowers, specialty farm produce, and traditional folk elements to create a realm where light and shadow interweave like a dream.
The installation aims to guide visitors in rediscovering their dreams through a vibrant, interactive lighting display while also infusing every detail with humanistic care. In doing so, it creates a profound artistic atmosphere that fosters deeper connections and warmth among people.
The work’s most striking feature lies in its use of traditional lantern-making techniques combined with dynamic machinery and programmed lighting to create an immersive experience reminiscent of an animated scene. From the petal-like fabric applications to the circuitry and programmed controls integrated within the steel framework, every element reflects the creator’s meticulous attention to detail. The exhibition flow mimics that of an amusement park, divided into multiple themed zones and featuring designated photo spots and interactive installations, inviting visitors to step into a fairytale world.
In addition, local flowers and specialty agricultural produce—such as peach blossoms, calla lilies, and grass—are incorporated, enriching the lantern display with a vibrant spectrum that echoes the region’s cultural heritage. The lighting zone also features ambient effects, music, and scheduled audio-visual shows, presenting distinctly different atmospheres by day and night. This multi-layered design offers delights for visitors of all ages. From narrative sequencing and stage design to live artistic performances, the audience is led on what feels like a legendary journey, fully showcasing the innovative cultural allure of the work.
