Sol de Janeiro, the beauty brand renowned for its vibrant celebration of Brazilian warmth and self-expression, presented Jardim Sol de Janeiro: A Garden for the Senses at Art Basel Miami Beach 2024. This five-day multi-sensory installation immersed visitors in the lively spirit of Brazil through a fusion of nature, art, and fragrance. In collaboration with emerging Brazilian female artists—Niege Borges, Barbara Tamilin, and Amanda Lobos—Sol de Janeiro reimagined Rio’s iconic "orelhões" (giant, ear-shaped phone booths) with original artwork reflecting the brand’s signature Cheirosa perfume mists. Each interactive portal brought the beloved scents to life, representing distinct moments in Brazilian culture. From the playful warmth of Cheirosa 62, inspired by Rio’s beaches, to the bold vibrancy of Cheirosa 68, connected to the Tropicalia movement, and the joyful spirit of Cheirosa 59, evoking Brazilian bossa nova, guests experienced fragrance as art. Sustainability was at the forefront of Sol de Janeiro’s vision for the installation, with eco-friendly practices woven throughout. Locally sourced materials and waste-minimizing designs underscored the brand's commitment to environmental responsibility, and the remaining flowers were donated to local Miami organizations after the event. Jardim Sol de Janeiro offered a unique sensory journey that invited guests to step into the heart of Brazil, where art, fragrance, and culture intertwined.
