The brand “Indigo Restaurant” was nurtured by “Peach Blossom Land ,” inheriting the design ethos of the “Hundred Flowers Garden ” and adopting indigo dyeing as its cultural symbol. Its guiding philosophy stems from the proverb “green is born of blue, yet surpasses blue.” From the natural fermentation bubbles of indigo dye emerged the original character, the Blue Elf, which anchors both cultural depth and whimsical narrative.
The space is composed of five main thematic areas—bakery, slow dining café, fermented food restaurant, cultural & creative pavilion, and the Hundred Flowers Garden. Through integrated experiences of dining, touring, appreciating, and learning, it weaves culture into daily life and translates indigo craftsmanship into contemporary expressions.
Design highlights include the extensive application of indigo blue, spanning building materials, furnishings, signage systems, and cultural merchandise, creating strong brand recognition. By introducing workshops and culinary metaphors of fermentation, the brand deepens the value of “slow living.” Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive: families connect through the Blue Elf, while younger visitors generate social media buzz in the café and bakery. With an emphasis on sustainability, the project employs local materials, natural techniques, and cultural reuse, positioning “Indigo Restaurant” as a model brand uniting culture, education, tourism, and everyday life in Yangshuo.
