Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City (Blue KC), the region’s largest health insurer, partnered with Chemistry to create a simplified, scalable digital ecosystem to enhance user experience and strengthen its brand presence. Blue KC, founded in 1938, offers a wide range of health insurance products, including HMOs, PPOs, dental, and Medicare plans. While the company has a strong local presence, the rise of national insurers with tech-forward digital experiences heightened consumer expectations, revealing gaps in Blue KC's fragmented online presence.
Chemistry was tasked with redesigning Blue KC's digital landscape, consolidating multiple platforms (including Medicare and BlueKCforYou.com - ACA) into one unified site. This new site aimed to address user needs, align with strategic brand goals, and support long-term scalability. By focusing on personalization and performance, the platform learns from user behavior, adapting to serve relevant content with each visit. The outcome is a dynamic, adaptive digital ecosystem that is fluid and responsive, unlike a static website.
The project started with a deep-dive strategy phase, during which we mapped user journeys and simplified content pathways. Key features include:
