“Rust Sequence”, a series I created in 2024, comprises four works in mixed-media painting, sculpture, and installation. Using rust as the primary material and medium, the series explores the conceptual relationships between the process of metal oxidation (rusting) and themes of time, history, and bodily wounds.
Work 01: Iron Age
This piece employs a rubbing technique to transfer the shapes of antique ironware onto fabric, examining the evolving historical significance of the "Iron Age."
Work 02: Lace Collection
This work presents a series of textural paintings created by merging lace patterns with rust formations.
Work 03: When My Wound Began to Rust
It draws a parallel between wound healing and the oxidation of iron, exploring their similarities and the temporal transformation of bodily scars.
Work 04: A Man with Tetanus
Inspired by tetanus, this piece investigates the relationship between superficial wounds and bacteria found in rust.
Rather than relying solely on individual images, I have chosen to present the works through a more detailed and narratively cohesive approach. This portfolio provides viewers with direct visual access to the pieces, encompassing full views, detail shots, dimensional data, sources of inspiration, and related contextual references.
