Inspiring Formosa:Organ Concert of Hsiao-Yi Yu premiered at the National Concert Hall in Taipei, elevating a concert into a national cultural milestone that united Taiwan’s cutting-edge technology, business leaders, diplomats, and international artists. Produced by Jeff Lin and curated and performed by organist Hsiaoyi Yu, and jointly realized with the Formosa Pipe Organ Society and ArtPure CULTURE & ARTs, the project positioned Taiwan as a global cultural brand driven by music, design, and innovation.
At its artistic core, the production employed the pipe organ—the emblematic instrument of European cultural heritage—as the foundation, integrating Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI)’s Generative AI (GAI) platform with architectural-scale projection mapping, immersive lighting, and advanced transparent screen technology. Musical structures were algorithmically transformed into dynamic visuals, sculpting the concert hall’s walls, columns, and domes, while transparent holographic layers created a floating dimension. The result was a “flowing architecture” where organ resonance could be simultaneously heard, seen, and felt—an unprecedented immersive experience in classical music.
The event was conceived as a threefold platform:
• Pre-concert guided listening, offering cultural education and audience engagement.
• Immersive performance, powered by AI-driven stage design and holographic transparency.
• Post-concert reception, facilitating networking among entrepreneurs, diplomats, and artists.
This holistic design transformed the concert from a performance into a platform for cultural dialogue, brand identity, and international exchange.
Impact
Inspiring Formosa was not only a performance but a cross-domain innovation that fused culture, technology, and diplomacy. It redefined the role of concerts as cultural events, establishing Taiwan as the first in Asia to pioneer a classical music brand powered by Generative AI, projection mapping, and immersive lighting. More importantly, it stands as a replicable prototype for immersive cultural branding, setting a new global benchmark for concert events, cultural exchange, and experiential brand design.
