The I’m For Planned Parenthood (PPFA) and I Fight For Planned Parenthood (Action Fund) campaigns proactively talk about — or respond to attacks on — Planned Parenthood, the care health centers provide, the values each organization protects, and broader attacks on the health care system and patients.
The I’m For Planned Parenthood and I Fight For Planned Parenthood campaigns put patients at the center of everything, highlighting the real costs and barriers to care they face. All people should have the right to get the health care and information they need to control their own bodies and lives, full stop. That’s what Planned Parenthood organizations and our supporters fight for today and always.
These campaigns only became more important after Congress “defunded” Planned Parenthood this summer. Planned Parenthood affiliates are no longer able to provide services to patients who pay with Medicaid, which covers more than half Planned Parenthood health center patients’ essential health care services. The consequences of the “defund” will be dire, potentially forcing up to 200 health centers around the country to close. This is the latest in a very long line of attacks on Planned Parenthood, patients, and sexual and reproductive health care in our country.
These campaigns worked to spotlight the harm caused by the many attacks against Planned Parenthood, including the reconciliation law’s “defund” provision, and place the blame where it belongs: squarely on the Trump administration and its backers in Congress. From key activations and media placements to educational efforts, the campaigns worked to ensure that the value of Planned Parenthood was effectively communicated in the wake of attacks and inspired supporters to take action.
In the face of escalating attacks from the Trump administration — threats not only to Planned Parenthood but the very foundation of our democratic institutions, health care system, and freedom — these campaigns mobilized a powerful, coordinated response. From the halls of Congress to the pages of The New York Times, it was impossible to ignore patients’ voices.
