On June 29, 2024, the National Automobile Museum unveiled the E.L. Wiegand Educational Activity Center, 3,000 square feet of interactive, car-themed fun designed to spark creativity, curiosity, and a love of automobiles in kids and families. Beaudry Interactive partnered with the museum to design, brand, and build this vibrant new hub where education meets play at full throttle.
From the moment families step inside, they’re immersed in an automotive world. A road-inspired floor, custom billboards, curved entry walls, and playful street-sign wayfinding set the stage, while themed seating, including a whimsical central roundabout, offers both rest and delight. Bright, color-coded zones keep energy flowing and experiences organized for every age.
Each zone transforms learning into hands-on discovery:
• Red Zone: A body-controlled car wash and mechanic shop where kids swap tires and test engines.
• Yellow Zone: The Auto Design Studio, where dream cars are sketched and displayed on a digital billboard, exploring how design impacts safety, cost, and performance.
• Green Zone: The Reno International Speedway, where kids steer race cars with body gestures, plus a LEGO build-and-race track that introduces physics in motion.
• Blue Zone: The Jr. Engineering Workshop, where pulleys, blocks, and Rigamajig pieces turn mechanics into play.
Beaudry brought every detail to life, from exhibits and educational content to digital interactives and interiors, blending bold graphics, checkerboard patterns, and a striking Thomas Flyer mural into a seamless space energized by street-style floor graphics.
Educational posters and infographics tie play to science with colorful, kid-friendly clarity. Behind the scenes, Beaudry’s award-winning Diva® show control system ensures the digital interactives run seamlessly every day.
The result is a dynamic, modern space that expands the museum’s mission, celebrating the culture of the automobile while igniting the imaginations of the next generation of innovators.
