The Maryland State Ad Agency (MSAA) designed, scripted and produced four videos focused on problem gambling for the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency (MLGCA); specifically speaking to vulnerable populations and offering resources to help these groups and those close to them. MLGCA identified four vulnerable populations; Elderly, Military, Youth and Rural populations. MSAA utilized peer counselors to specifically address each vulnerable population group.
The target demographic for the statewide campaign was persons of 18+ years of age, 50% males and 50% females. The videos were created to keep in the client’s online library so they can be referred to when needed. MLGCA also intends to use the videos on social media.
In Maryland, studies have shown that 1 in 20 people either currently exhibit or are at risk for developing problem gambling behaviors. Maryland offers no cost treatment available with no insurance or payment required for any resident negatively impacted by gambling. There is 24/7 help for those having difficulties gambling or family and friends impacted by someone’s gambling and it is confidential.
MSAA worked proudly with MLGCA to produce this series of videos to educate and inform the citizens of Maryland.
