The Lloyd H. Dean Institute for Humankindness & Health Justice Annual Report documents a pivotal year of growth, clarity and impact for the Institute, highlighting how the science of kindness, compassion, empathy and trust is advancing health equity across CommonSpirit Health. Designed as both an accountability tool and a storytelling platform, the report brings together data and strategic vision to demonstrate how humankindness functions as a measurable driver of change.
The report organizes the Institute’s work across four core service areas—education, training, research and evaluation. It showcases national initiatives such as the Humankindness & Health Justice Virtual Summit, the Common Good Academy, toolkits addressing various issues, and research focused on reducing disparities. Impact metrics and participant voices are woven throughout to ground the work in real-world outcomes.
Visually and narratively, the project balances rigor with humanity, using photography, quotations, and clear data visualization to reinforce the Institute’s belief that health justice starts with humankindness. The report serves multiple audiences, including health system leaders, clinicians, researchers, donors and community partners, while reinforcing the Institute’s role as a centralized, strategic partner embedded across the ministry.
The report was met with very positive feedback from Institute leadership and across CommonSpirit Health as well as from external partners.
