About The Entry
Closed Loop of Plunder takes “Materialized Ocean, Traces of Retaliation” as its core concept. It adopts a three-part narrative structure, following the thread of “Trace of Destruction — Rule of Materialization — Fruit of Retaliation.” Through the imagery of whale bones crystallizing and dissipating, and lives being imprisoned by chains, it exposes the essence of humanity’s plunder—from indiscriminate destruction to systematic exploitation. It criticizes the industrial materialization and discipline of nature, and interrogates the closed loop of costs between plunder and retaliation—every act of humanity’s plunder of the ocean is a trace of retaliation engraved on its own fate.
Based on digital animation technology, the work transforms real-world issues into an artistic expression with profound ideological connotation and visual impact. More than a criticism of humanity’s destruction of marine ecology, it aims to break the “cognitive distance” between humans and marine ecosystems through the narrative of “traces,” making the audience aware of the in-depth connection between their own actions and ecological crises.
