Inspiring Formosa: Organ Concert of Hsiao-Yi Yu marks the second stage of the “Top Concert Hall Project,” realized at the National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying), home to the largest pipe organ in Asia. The project transforms the classical concert into an immersive performance integrating music, architecture, art, and cultural technology. Curated and performed by internationally awarded organist Hsiao-Yi Yu, the program bridges Bach, Taiwanese folk melodies, and contemporary works to form a cross-cultural sonic narrative. The production incorporates ITRI’s AI-driven dynamic imaging process to transform the paintings of Taiwanese artists Chen Hui-Tung and Chen Hsiang-Yin into living visual forms. Combined with 5G low-latency transmission, real-time generative visuals, and projection-based light architecture, musical spectrum, performer gestures, and architectural space are translated into flowing fields of light. The stage, audience, and architecture merge into a continuous resonant environment, where the audience becomes immersed participants rather than passive listeners, re-experiencing music as a spatial and embodied presence. The project demonstrates Taiwan’s ability to translate cultural content through technology and proposes a contemporary performance model adaptable to major concert halls worldwide.
