Talking Parrot (Short Live Action Film)

Seventy-three-year-old Zhang Guifen is diagnosed with terminal cancer. Facing her impending death, her only fear is leaving her 50-year-old severely autistic son to fend for himself. Racing against time, Zhang embarks on a desperate search for a facility that will take him in. However, she is met with insurmountable barriers: child welfare centers reject overage applicants, standard nursing homes lack specialized care, private facilities are prohibitively expensive, and relatives shy away from the lifelong burden. Repeatedly turned away, Zhang looks at her aging son—who still depends on her like a toddler—and finds herself stranded on an isolated island built of maternal love.
