About The Entry
Food loss and waste in Saudi Arabia has fallen from 33.1% to 27.9% since 2019, a 16% national reduction, according to the Kingdom's General Food Security Authority. Yet Ramadan remains the season when the problem quietly resurfaces, as tables overflow with abundance across the country.
Almarai's long-running "Appreciate the Blessing" platform has always believed lasting change starts young, not through lecturing families, but by speaking directly to children, whose habits shape household behavior for years to come. In 2026, that belief evolved into something more radical: animation itself became the medium for the message.
Rather than shoot a traditional Ramadan commercial, which typically requires elaborate, overflowing Iftar spreads and the food waste that comes with producing them, Almarai and partner Webedia Arabia built the entire film as a fully realized 3D clay world. The decision was as strategic as it was aesthetic: by animating the story instead of filming it, the production itself avoided the excess food normally and resources required for commercial food photography, aligning the making of the film with its anti-waste message before a single frame reached audiences.
The world was inspired by the mud-brick architecture of central Saudi Arabia, with buildings recreated from real regional references, preserving proportions, materials, architectural details, and imperfections. A unified clay material system gave every surface a handcrafted, tactile character, resulting in a world that feels playful and magical, yet culturally grounded and immediately familiar to Saudi audiences.
The story unfolds as a musical, family-friendly narrative built for children specifically, in a country where 35% of the population is under 14. Rather than moralize, the film speaks to kids through song and story, embedding lessons about gratitude and responsibility inside a warm Ramadan setting, alongside quiet appreciation for the people, especially mothers, whose care brings the table to life each day.
Framed as a love letter to Ramadan, the film reminds audiences that every morsel carries meaning beyond nourishment. When food is wasted, we don't just lose a meal, we turn away a blessing already on its way.
