APA's mission "from the beginning" has been to increase access to health care for low income uninsured members of our community. They have built an extensive network of health care providers and supporters who volunteer their time and expertise to offer medical care at no charge to some of Anchorage's most needy. The national Affordable Care Act seemed poised to make APA's efforts obsolete, but the truth is that the poorest of the poor "64% of those APA serves" remain uninsured and have no other options for medical care. APA's annual report describes the new demands facing the nonprofit organization, how it has adapted to continue to serve its clients, and its unwavering determination to continue serving Anchorage's poor.
