Ethel Percy Andrus was a retired high-school principal who founded the National Retired Teachers Association, and later AARP, after discovering another retired teacher who had been living in a chicken coop because of a lack of retirement income. We created a series of Ethel-themed posters to reintroduce her story to employees in a fun and inspiring manner. We created two Ethel icons, incorporated textures from archived documents, developed a type treatment asking “What Would Ethel Do,” and used Ethel to ask a series of AARP trivia questions for employees.
