To support our business strategy, we have developed new Leadership Attributes that will help Pernod Ricard to achieve its ambition of rapidly and proactively becoming the uncontested Industry Leader. It is the result of a collaborative process that involved more than 60 senior managers to define the leadership behaviors Pernod Ricard needs to ensure its future success. We ultimately selected 19 competencies, grouped into 6 attributes, which are the new Pernod Ricard Leadership Attributes, and provide a guiding framework of what is expected from our leaders to achieve the Group’s ambitions.

Based on 6 attributes, The Pernod Ricard Leadership model embodies our unique way to lead and achieve our business ambition. Each attribute is translated into 3 or 4 related competencies that represent specific leadership capabilities and expected behaviors by band. These competencies can be observed, acquired, and improved with appropriate development strategies and action plans.

To make a lasting difference in terms of career development, we must have a clear vision of where we stand, and which competency or behavior needs improvement to build future capabilities. Each attribute has three rating guidelines related to specific observable behaviors that help employees better understand their own level of proficiency and provide visibility on concrete development paths within the organization.

Armed with a 163-page pdf document, we needed to find a creative way to socialize the new leadership model with employees. With offices and brands around the global, why not create a course were the participant has to go around the world and solve challenges based on the 19 competencies. By incorporating gamification elements badges, points, etc. into the course, employees were provided the opportunity to have fun while learning. Which also increased participants ability to recall what they have learned on the job.
