Artistry meets cutting-edge technology in the "Moondream Reality" venue, a platform originally created for the opening of the Kaohsiung Music Center in Taiwan. The space combines a fully projected room (surrounding walls and floor) made possible by Optoma, loaded with sensors to detect guest movement, a suite of Microsoft’s cordless augmented reality Hololens headsets, Dolby-enabled surround sound system, as well as show elements such as lighting and fog. Directed by former Walt Disney Imagineer Dolce Wang, the MoonShine Animation team has created a longstanding medium as well as workflow that gives artists a playground, pushing the boundaries and limitations of digital art where creativity and advanced technology meld. The full integration of various technological tools creates the possibility for deeper immersion, interaction, and storytelling. The standardization of both the system and workflow is designed so that Moondream Reality can be treated as an expandable business model, much like an IMAX theater; in this way, it can be replicated anywhere in the world. Furthermore, the open-space venue encourages for a community building experience, which allows for interaction between friends and guests - something that has been challenged by most standalone technology, whether VR, AR or projection. Programmers, architects, animators, graphic artists, sound artists and engineers have been given full creative liberty to experiment in the Moondream Reality space to create content. Among the many experiences showcased are “Flight of the Flamingos” and “Mystic Drum”. “Flight of the Flamingos” is an interactive show that takes guests on a magical journey into the life of baby flamingos as they transit into adulthood. “Mystic Drum” is a captivating musical experience that involves visceral drumming which naturally entices attendees to participate. No guidance is necessary.
