The IMF is an organization of 190 countries that fosters global financial stability to reduce poverty around the world. Despite taking an early lead as the ‘financial crisis physician’ during the COVID-19 pandemic, the IMF sees that many are still uninformed — even misinformed — about the strong macroeconomic ties to climate change, and gender and income inequality. Everyday IMF content targets a niche audience, so to reach a broader segment we needed to step away from the norm and create something unexpected and original while adhering to a budget that allowed for little beyond royalty-free, stock footage. So, we produced a live show. The Exchange: Conversations for a Better Future is an unprecedented IMF series produced entirely in-house and featuring candid conversations between the IMF managing director and surprising guests — thought leaders, famous authors, climate champions, business pioneers, and politicians — on issues of gender, economics, equity, and climate. Our audience is expanding and in just three episodes, live views have increased by 353% with significant viewership spanning the globe.
