When two life-long friends share a love for plants and an innate talent for creating unique living arrangements, it's only natural to turn that passion into a budding venture. For Jessica and Lindsay, what started out as a seedling of an idea, very quickly grew into a full fledged business strategy. But before they could move forward they quickly addressed their brand's future and the need for a logo design. Buds Plant Boutique approached Lisa Gorham Creative looking for just that. But after working through initial discovery sessions it became clear that a more comprehensive, versatile brand identity suite was needed to support multiple brand touchpoints and the growing needs that would evolve over time. Focusing on Buds' business plan, we identified their target audience, marketplace positioning, and their vision for the ideal customer experience. They wanted to appeal to the local, middle- to upper-class female consumer, who's interested in beautiful, high-quality products, exceptional customer service, and small town charm.
The new brand identity suite is refined, high-end, and showcases a touch of playfulness. It includes a responsive set of logos and a series of secondary mark and slogans. The visual identity's timeless logotype boasts clean lines and a special little detail—a nod to these life-long friends who have joined together in business—the U in Buds, which doubles as a succulent pot with a funnel notch at its base, cleverly forms Lindsay's and Jessica's initials. This symbolic detail is further illustrated in the identity's budding B brandmark. Extending beyond the primary logos, the suite's secondary marks were meticulously designed to be used throughout various print and digital touchpoints. Taking Buds' creativity and playfulness even further, two slogans were developed for the brand to work independently as well as within their respective marks.
Guiding every decision that Buds Plant Boutique made was the goal to establish life-long customer relationships, connect with the local community, create beautifully unique arrangements, and grow a thriving business. For two buds who dig pretty things, telling their brand story in a thoughtful and beautiful way was integral for their new business.
