Microworld Class 2 - Wound Exudate – uses the power of visual storytelling using 2D and 3D animation to take our target audience through a memorable educational journey regarding the importance of wound exudate and how to assess and manage it to help wounds heal.
The number of community nurses has fallen by 14% since 2009.
Staff recruitment and retention is a national priority, especially for community nursing. This lack of staffing has placed an ever-growing caseload of frail and complex patients with wounds onto staff who don’t have the relevant skill sets and knowledge to optimally manage patients with chronic wounds.
Qualitative research found that education within wound care has not significantly changed in decades. The content is dry/complex and not positioned appropriately for the generalist nurse or patient. There is a need for a new delivery method to improve wound education and to support improved wound management for patients.
The idea of Microworld (www.mymicroworld.online) - a free, independent, educational platform that provided patients and healthcare professionals with access to engaging, interactive, CPD-validated animated medical content – to meet this need was born.
Understanding Wound Exudate is a key component to ensure a wound heals. Our animation has been accessed by thousands of healthcare professionals, with fantastic feedback both in analytic usage and anecdotal comments including comments such as:
