Hiding behind the radio antenna is the Washington Monument that represents its locality.
Hiding behind the monument is the letter “i” which represents Implementation.
Hiding below the radio waves is the dot of the “i” that represents the starting point of change.
Shown in gradient are the wide demographics of society, culture, and people.
The logo comes together to illustrate the Implementation Team or, the i-team of WAMU 88.5.
WAMU is a leading public radio station in the Washington, DC area and it needed a logo for the newly formed Implementation Team (i-Team) that sought to improve the organizational practices in the following areas: culture; diversity, equity, and inclusion; cross-departmental collaboration and communication; and the connection between WAMU and American University.
We created a logo that helped identify the team by using "i" as the main focal point of the symbol. We modified the form to resemble the Washington Monument while blending it to show a radio tower representative of their industry.
We used the dot of the “i” to be the center point for change that creates a movement or ripple effect from the inner circle of the team to the outer circle within the organization.
The color gradient was applied to illustrate Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion showing a smooth transition to bring unity to the organization.
