The Saudi Arabia Rabigh 3 Independent Water plant provides an effective, innovative, and economical solution for countries and regions with deserts, which are troubled by water shortages even with abundant marine resources.
The project utilizes the most advanced SWRO seawater reverse osmosis technology. It mainly includes facilities like substation, Pump station with intake & outfall system, pre-treatment, chemical dosing, post-treatment, and reverse osmosis system to ensure reliable daily water resources for residents. At the same time, as the largest single desalination plant in the world equipped with a sound purification system, it can ensure a sufficient daily water supply for more than 2 million residents in Jeddah and Mecca.
Apart from tackling the local water shortage, the project also fully values people’s livelihood and shows a strong sense of social responsibility. Thanks to the innovative management pattern and module design, the whole desalination process realize low consumption and energy saving. Only 0.53 dollar can get a ton of purified water supply, which eases the economic burden for residents. Nearly 3,500 jobs had been offered for locals during the construction and completion period, which helps to increase employment. Nearly 40% of the materials and equipment are supplied by locals, bringing a direct economic benefit of nearly 200 million dollars. This contributes to the development to the local economy and reduces the maintenance cost to a certain extent as well.
