The Rocket Mortgage Classic, played at the historic Detroit Golf Club, is more than just a PGA TOUR® golf tournament. More importantly, it provides an opportunity for the brand to serve the community. The tournament helps shine a spotlight on Detroit, showcasing it as a great place to live, work and play. However, that doesn’t mean there isn’t room for improvement. Using the event to help change the course in the city and bridge the digital divide across Detroit through the AREA 313 Challenge. The Rocket Mortgage Classic isn’t just about world-class golfers descending on Detroit, it’s also about contributing to our community and residents, creating long-lasting change, and resolving issues by improving internet, technology and digital literacy training across Detroit.

Our business challenge was twofold:
1. Create excitement for the return of PGA TOUR golf in Detroit.
2. Tell the story on how Rocket is helping bridge Detroit’s digital divide.

Through our creative executions, from helping raise money at the AREA 313 Challenge to bringing general awareness around the event with Changing the Course, the 2022 Rocket Mortgage Classic was a tremendous success and a tradition in Detroit that’s becoming the highlight of the summer.
