Highsnobiety Magazine is an international youth platform printed in high gloss. Each quarterly issue uses contemporary aesthetic preoccupations – trends, obsessions, fads, eras – as jumping-off points to address and preempt cultural shifts. By examining personal style, specifically, Highsnobiety starts conversations around the socio-political atmospheres informing the “person” implied by the phrase “personal style.” Fashion is a powerful means of expression, and one that’s shared across borders, languages, backgrounds, and circumstances. Launched in 2004, the magazine has a loyal following around the world, and an audience that shows up for the events and collaborations organized by the publication’s parent brand of the same name. As a community driven by new agents, creativity, and what’s next, the 2023 September issue featured three cover stars (instead of the traditional one) meant to represent the entirety of where the industry is headed in the next year. Instead, Lil Yachty, shot by Jason Nocito, Khaby Lame, in conversation with the creator Wesley Breed, and Grace Valentine, the nonbinary runway model who went viral, acted as Highsnobiety’s September issue cover statement.
