Harley - Davidson is a legacy brand with 120 years of history and innovation. The release of the Highway King as the newest addition of the Icons Motorcycle Collection, required us to both celebrate their storied history and showcase the Highway King's place in Harley - Davidson's modern lineup. The Icons Motorcycle Collection is an opportunity for Harley - Davidson to revisit their most popular and sought after models, releasing an updated model in limited numbers each year. The primary objective was to introduce our viewers to the Highway King through a visual road trip experience, but we also wanted to make sure we infused it with the passion and emotion that truly makes this motorcycle a Harley. Our narrative follows a rider revisiting his grandfather's road trip. What were once colorful anecdotes and faded photographs of beautiful places and interesting people, is now a real and tangible experience that is being created one mile at a time by our new generation of riders. The Highway King film allowed us to play with classic colors, locations and 8mm footage to really pay homage to the past while still presenting the bike in through a modern lens, with clean confident Steadicam movement and engaging road camera work and a score that walked the line between old country songs and modern film scores.
