Eclipse

This fashion illustration project draws inspiration from the cosmic spectacle of a total solar eclipse. Not only was this spectacle an unforgettable experience for me, but it also inspired me to visualize the state of mind of the ancients when they witnessed this amazing celestial event. In anthropological texts, solar eclipses in China are sometimes seen as the crows living in the sun being shot by the human hero Hou Yi or the sun's wheel being torn apart and devoured by the hound (天狗Tian Gou) of the traditional Chinese deity, Er Lang Shen (二郎神). I incorporate my personal love of fashion, legends and astronomical phenomena into my illustrations, hoping to express my love of fashion while echoing the wonders of real life.
For this illustration project, I chose the image of Chinese supermodel Liu Wen as a reference, and the design elements and color palette will be drawn from the visual experience of a total solar eclipse: the mystery of the darkness that envelops the sky and the earth, the dazzling aura of the corona, and the bright sunlight that erupts when the sun comes back to life, all of these become inspirations for the fashion design. The entire work seeks to interpret the spectacle of solar eclipse from a unique perspective, exploring the intertwining of astronomical phenomena, myths and legends with fashion and art, creating a surreal aesthetic experience like being in a different time and space, leading the viewer to transcend the boundaries between reality and imagination, and re-examining the relationship between nature and human imagination.
