Float4 transformed the lobby of The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas with "Opulence," a mesmerizing new digital art piece that envelops visitors in a surreal, dreamlike underwater world. This multimedia project revitalized the iconic lobby’s eight towering digital columns, creating a visually captivating experience that aligns with the resort's playful brand and commitment to art.
The lobby columns installation presents an underwater fantasy, bringing four unique characters to life in a captivating performance. The creative vision aimed to capture the elusive essence of The Cosmopolitan, where guests embrace a bolder version of themselves. To achieve this vision, we undertook an underwater live-action shoot featuring the four unique characters. The underwater theme acts as a visual metaphor, echoing the hidden depths and the joy of discovery that aligns with the hotel's brand.
A journey beneath the surface, both literal and figurative, from serenity to splendor.
One of the key challenges in creating Opulence was designing 2D content for the lobby's unique 3D space. The process demanded a holistic approach, considering all perspectives and the interplay of surrounding lights, colors, and ambient sounds. Factors such as ceiling height, the positioning of individuals within the space, and their scale relative to the content were meticulously accounted for.
Furthermore, Float4 ensured the installation remained engaging for multiple guest visits by curating distinct, synchronized storylines for the 32 unique faces across the eight columns, with surreal characters swimming between displays, offering guests a new and enchanting experience with each visit.
To complement the inspiring visual narrative, Float4 also developed a synchronized audio soundtrack, transforming the bustling lobby into an immersive environment. The result is an ever-evolving narrative that unfolds across the lobby. The mundane act of waiting in line to check in becomes an enchanting encounter, leaving guests both joyful and intrigued.
Opulence was integrated across three distinct locations in the resort: the eight 16-foot digital lobby columns featuring 384 high-resolution displays, the 75-foot display along the registration counter, and the 65-foot tall Beacon atop the hotel, further contributing to the grandeur of The Cosmopolitan's visual landscape.
