OLTRE's mission is to inspire this audience with in-the-know content on myriad lifestyle interests, including the best hotels, resorts, cruises, adventures, restaurants, art, fashion, beauty, design, and more. OLTRE is an Italian word that means “over, above or beyond.” That’s where we take our readers.
Our logo is positioned at the bottom of the cover and is framed with an arch to represent our window looking out onto the world. We print on 48-pound, eco-certified archival paper with the expectation that our readers will collect each issue and hold onto them as a keepsake to adorn their coffee tables and bookshelves for years to come.
We set out to design a luxury-minded publication that feels fresh and easy to digest, a product that stands apart from the sameness of traditional travel magazines. We keep our stories short, lively, and useful. We value white space and simplicity over busyness and long-form narratives.
We open every issue with an artist profile, a two-page spread with minimal text — a signal to our readers to stop and slow down. This issue’s artist creates masterful mixed-media works from broken ceramic plates. Elsewhere in this issue, we explore Bangkok’s bespoke tailor shops, cruise down the Rhine, take an espresso tour of Florence, and check into a legendary hotel in Oxfordshire, among other luxurious adventures — requiring photoshoots around the world, each directed and curated by our in-house team.
Our photography regularly incorporates high-end fashion to help bring our signature destination guides to life. For these, we direct and produce complex lifestyle shoots with models, stylists, local producers, lighting assistants, and more. In this issue, we shot the cover at Aman New York, one of the world’s most exclusive hotels, overlooking Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue.
To establish a powerful sense of time and place, every issue comes with a unique soundtrack, a Spotify playlist curated by the DJs of the world’s top bars. As a cherry on top, we always close the magazine with the OLTRE Q&A, a tongue-in-cheek travel questionnaire answered by a creative industry icon.
