Toward the end of 2023, the Open Society Foundations closed Open Society Institute-Baltimore, which had operated locally for 25 years, advancing some of the most impactful progressive initiatives in Baltimore and the region. As OSI-Baltimore began preparing to sunset their programming, they turned to their long-term collaborator The Hatcher Group to effectively communicate the news to community partners while also celebrating the tremendous impact the organization has had on the city over the past quarter-century.
To commemorate their 25 years of accomplishments and honor the grantees who have made an impact in their community, OSI-Baltimore asked Hatcher to plan and execute a celebratory reception for their grantees, stakeholders, community partners, and friends. From day one, we worked shoulder-to-shoulder with the OSI-Baltimore team to coordinate venue visits and develop the event’s theme. We developed a theme that would offer the experience of an elevated and classy reunion for the OSI-Baltimore community.
The event was held at the Baltimore Museum of Industry; more than 300 guests attended, including the mayor of Baltimore, multiple city council members, national foundation leaders, civil rights icons, and more.
Our commitment to the guest experience, from addressing needs to facilitating networking, created a memorable and engaging atmosphere, showcasing videos we produced to highlight the history of the organization, making the OSI-Baltimore closing event a resounding triumph.
As noted by our client, Tracy Brown, the deputy director of OSI-Baltimore, “Everything was simply fabulous—the videos based on interviews that were conducted warmly and produced such nice sentiments, beautiful and exceptionally sophisticated design work and execution, flawless logistical implementation, incredibly creative use of the venue, and meticulous attention to countless details and vendor management. Every aspect was simply perfect because of the impressive skills and professionalism contributed by each of you.”
