It’s not every day that a brand hits one out of the park, but that’s what happened when Ignite2X developed and launched the novel, experiential “Signature Moments” campaign for its long-standing client, Zebra Pen.

Zebra Pen, known for high-quality pens, highlighters and markers, was seeking a new and competitively unique way to connect with and introduce more consumers to their products. To do so, the brand elected to enter the sponsorship world, leveraging the all-American appeal of Ripken Baseball and equity of Cal Ripken, Jr. as its vessel.
Using its “Signature Moments” platform, the campaign focused on important milestones in life, such as the experience of youth playing Ripken Baseball, linking those meaningful memories with the Zebra Pen brand. Impact was immediate, with 70.3 million impressions of earned media coverage for the brand occurring on day one of the partnership. Moreover, Zebra Pen signage was positioned at Ripken Baseball bullpens, known as the “Zebra Zen Pen,” featuring Zen, Zebra’s spokes-animal. Additionally, Zebra Pen’s branding and products were featured in all social and digital activations pouring from Ripken Baseball, with direct links to the Zebra Pen website. And it all kicked off with a social media giveaway offering a chance to win Cal Ripken, Jr. autographed memorabilia signed with Zebra Pen STEEL Series products.
Not only did the campaign spark immediate impact and serve to create lifetime brand value, but it significantly amplified Zebra Pen’s visibility and engagement with families by showcasing the brand’s commitment to youth athletics and family-centered experiences.
