The Francis W Hatch Awards celebrate the best in New England advertising. Post-COVID, the show’s attendance had dropped off. More people were working from home or in a hybrid setting, and schlepping all the way into Boston for the Hatch show seemed like a drag. Hatch is a show with a great history. Many ground-breaking campaigns were launched there (Polaroid, John Hancock, VW, TRUTH, CDC, Progressive). To get people back to the show in-person, we decided to celebrate our potential audience’s place in that pantheon. And to celebrate that they and their work made it through all the agency higher-ups, layers of clients, rounds of testing and came out the other end still wonderful and worthy of winning. And to paraphrase the late James Earl Jones was the voice over for another Hatch-winning campaign, Bell Atlantic/Verizon; People came, Ray. People most definitely came.
