About The Entry

Trivium Interactive partnered with the Indiana Donor Network (INDN) to reimagine their headquarters in Indianapolis, transforming it into a memorial space for families of organ and tissue donors. The space honors these Donor Heroes and the many lives saved through their gifts. Since 1987, the Indiana Donor Network has facilitated lifesaving donations from 25,039 Donor Heroes, impacting 1,291,240 lives. This redesign symbolically maps the Donor Hero’s impact through art, color, sound, and light, offering a deeply personal memorial for each Donor Hero while thoughtfully balancing the needs of families, employees, and visitors.
The Remembrance Experience utilizes lighting, audio, and media to transform a lobby into an immersive environment. The experience showcases a four-story atrium with a sculptural Tree of Life at the center. Its branches symbolize the Donor Heroes, while the 83 lanterns represent the number of lives each donor can impact. Visitors engage with one of five kiosks to craft a poignant tribute to their loved one. The flow of visitors through this contemplative space requires each part of their experience to be precisely timed. Lighting and media work to both enhance the emotional messaging and subtly guide visitors from kiosks facing different directions to a common Remembrance Wall for the conclusion of their Donor Hero’s tribute. Trivium also designed a website that accompanies the in-person experience, allowing INDN to host memorial events for thousands of families near and far.
Most importantly, INDN wished for a space to host donor families for large remembrance events throughout the year. The experience needed to accommodate a concentrated amount of visitors yet give each family space to have a meaningful experience without feeling rushed. The Kiosk program provides simple steps for each donor family to customize their remembrance experience with images of their loved one, quotes, and a printed keepsake to take home. The touchscreen media gently guides visitors through the steps to create a custom remembrance moment for their Donor Hero and directs their attention to the Tree, the lanterns, the naturalistic soundtrack, and the Remembrance Wall where they will see their uploaded images of their loved one.
