The theme “Childhood Thirty” marks the 30th anniversary of the Yilan International Children’s Folklore & Folkgame Festival, a milestone that celebrates three decades of cherished memories. In 2025, under the concept of a “Taiwanese Water Disneyland,” the Dongshan River Water Park is transformed into a fairy-tale stage. With the castle as its centerpiece, the design combines fountains, projection mapping, and interactive installations to create a dual experience: vibrant play during the day and dazzling light spectacles at night. Beyond being a celebration, the festival weaves together cross-generational joy, continuing to write Taiwan’s unique wonderland of childhood.
The design is anchored by four major highlights that set the stage’s immersive atmosphere. First, the fountain stage has been extended by 80 meters, forming a monumental water curtain at night that unfolds as the grand backdrop to the castle. Second, the festival incorporates Yilan’s famous natural marvel of “Water and Fire from the Same Source,” recreating the awe-inspiring coexistence of water and fire through technology, seamlessly blending natural legend with live ambience. Third, Taiwan’s first rotating floral-basket nozzles were introduced; as water jets spin, they bloom like petals in midair, crafting poetic, flowing imagery. Finally, a symphony of multi-type lighting and laser technology frames the castle in luminous brilliance, synchronizing with music to present dynamic matrix transformations. Together, water, light, and fire intertwine to compose a magnificent nocturnal performance. This year’s festival transcends the notion of a mere amusement park; it has evolved into a theatrical spectacle of the senses, inviting families and visitors to witness the advancement of Taiwan’s lighting and fountain show design.
