Grains Speak in Time is an experimental handmade book that uses grains as its core narrative. Here, grains become the language of time. Their textures and scents are sealed within the paper, allowing the annual rings of nature and the aroma of the seasons to quietly settle, transforming the abstract concept of time into something tangible—felt by the fingers, heard by the soul.
Each page is made from biodegradable handmade paper, some sheets even embedding seeds to symbolize rebirth. This design reflects a cycle where text, material, and life coexist in harmony. As readers turn the pages, they become part of a ritual—experiencing the transformation of grains from hardness to softness, and listening to the whispers of seasons and civilization.
The book is not just a reading object—it is a return. From agriculture to spirit, from matter to poetry, Grains Speak in Time invites readers to rediscover the warmth of time and the power of the earth. Its materials carry memory, its textures hold stories, and its presence asks us to slow down and reflect on the invisible forces that nourish life.
Crafted through a process that echoes cooking porridge, the grain-infused pulp creates a tactile experience that blends material with metaphor. The linen cover, chosen for its ability to soften with time, mirrors the journey of the grains themselves. Binding methods such as Coptic stitching reveal the book’s structure, emphasizing openness, layers, and craft.
Grains Speak in Time merges tradition, ecology, and poetics into a book that reads like a landscape. It invites readers not only to read, but to listen, to feel, and to plant—perhaps literally—what remains.
