Inspired by the imperial court vessel “Eight Treasures Inlaid with Gold and Gemstones” from the Palace Museum, this fan extracts its ornate patterns and transforms them into a bone-free paper-carved folding fan. It embodies blessings of completeness, auspiciousness, wisdom, and well-being — bringing royal rituals and Forbidden City culture into daily life.
① As a fan — a delicate hand fan;
② As detachable pieces — elements become bookmarks;
③ As a light-reactive artifact — under UV light, hidden colors and text appear, revealing blessings.
The fan surface uses an interlaced paper-carving structure, lightweight, secure, and refined. The detachable “Eight Treasures” illustrations can turn into bookmarks or pendants without affecting the fan’s function. Under UV light, concealed motifs emerge — symbolizing blessings carried by the wind.
This design realizes “one object, three delights,” balancing artistry and practicality.
“Palace Museum” means heritage; “Treasure” conveys value. Together as “Palace Treasures,” the name honors the collection while extending royal auspiciousness into everyday life.
