ISIA Roma Design is an public University Institute of Design in Italy, founded in 1973 by Giulio Carlo Argan. It is part of the Ministry of Education, University and Research. The first brand -that dates back to the 70s- has been modified very little over the years but, in 2018, the Institution decided to update its brand and its visual identity and to reaffirm its system of values.<br>The main goal of ISIA was to renew and update its visual identity so as to reiterate the central role of the design program, the educational vocation of the institute and the importance it gives to research, providing -at the same time- institutional communication tools that are up-to-date and coordinated.<br>The evolution of the brand is based on a new angle, a new dimension: from square to circle, from circle to sphere. A new evolutionary stage that makes it possible for the institutional and the experimental side to coexist. A stage that summons the designeru2019s complex international dimension, the variety of his/her points of view, the form as volume, the design as progress and ability to create new forms. <br>The ISIA logo becomes a tool to use and decline for printed and digital design. <br>All the current potential forms of use provided by contemporary design had to be expressed by the brand: from the requirements of interaction design to multimedia design, to video animation and motion graphics and to new technological forms of expressions. The digital design of communication materials was achieved using open source softwares which were released to the students as a basis for future experiments.
