Interview
Saudi Arabia
Ahmed and Yasir are brothers and the founders of FOURP®, a Saudi creative agency that builds brands through strategy, identity, experience, and communication. Their approach is rooted in the belief that strong branding goes beyond aesthetics, giving ideas clarity, meaning, and a distinctive identity people can recognize and connect with.
1 Congratulations on your achievements in the MUSE Creative Awards! Could you start by introducing yourself or your agency? Can you also share a bit about your journey into your current industry?
We are Ahmed and Yasir, brothers and the founders of FOURP®, a Saudi creative agency focused on building brands through strategy, identity, experience, and communication. Founded in Saudi Arabia and registered as a trademark in the Kingdom, FOURP was built around a shared belief that branding is not simply about creating something that looks good; it is about giving an idea clarity, meaning, and a system that people can recognize and connect with. Our journey started from a shared interest in design and visual communication, which gradually grew into a deeper belief in the role of branding in shaping how people experience and remember a brand. We are still a young agency, but every project has been an opportunity to refine our approach, challenge our thinking, and build work that has a reason behind every detail.
2 What inspired you to submit your work for this competition, and what does winning mean to you personally and professionally?
We wanted to put the work in a context beyond our own agency and see how it would be received by an international creative community. Winning Gold at the MUSE Creative Awards was especially meaningful because Black Clouds was a project we believed in deeply. It was not only recognition for the final identity, but also for the thinking, exploration, and decisions behind it. Personally, it gave us a moment to pause and realize how far we have come. Professionally, it encourages us to keep raising our standards and to continue creating work that can represent Saudi creativity on an international stage.
3 Can you share the story behind your success? What inspired its creation, and what do you feel it represents in today’s industry?
Black Clouds was created for an event house specializing in corporate exhibitions, conferences, and immersive brand experiences. The starting point was the idea of the moment before rainfall, that feeling of anticipation when something is about to happen. We translated that idea into a brand built around mystery, movement, transformation, and experience. The visual identity was designed to feel intelligent and distinctive rather than relying on conventional event industry aesthetics. The custom “B” monogram incorporates a forward direction, reflecting ambition, progress, and movement. For us, Black Clouds represents an approach to branding where the concept is not simply something written in a strategy document. It becomes the foundation for the visual language, behavior, and experience of the brand.
4 What do you believe set your project apart in such a competitive field? Were there specific elements or strategies that made it shine?
The strongest part of the project was the relationship between the idea and the identity. We did not want to create a visual identity that simply looked mysterious or premium. We wanted the identity to communicate the feeling behind the brand: anticipation, direction, transformation, and the experience of what comes next. The custom monogram, visual system, typography, and applications were all developed from that central idea. This gave the identity consistency while allowing it to remain flexible across different experiences and environments.
5 Every project has its challenges. Can you share a significant obstacle you faced during this process and how you overcame it?
One of the biggest challenges was translating an abstract idea into something visually distinctive without making it overly complicated. The concept of anticipation can easily become literal or predictable. We had to continuously question whether each design decision was actually serving the idea or simply adding visual decoration. We overcame that by simplifying the system and focusing on a few strong principles. Once the core idea became clear, the identity became much more confident and consistent.
6 Winning an award of this caliber often brings recognition. What do you hope this achievement will mean for your career, your team, or your agency in the long run? Have you already noticed any changes or opportunities arising from this recognition?
We see the award as a milestone rather than a destination. Our long term goal is to build FOURP into a creative agency known for thoughtful branding work originating from Saudi Arabia and reaching beyond its borders. The recognition gives us greater confidence in the direction we are taking and motivates us to be more selective, more ambitious, and more disciplined with the work we put into the world. As for new opportunities, it is still early, but the recognition has already created conversations and given people outside our immediate network a reason to discover our work.
7 What has the reaction been from clients, audiences, or stakeholders about your winning entry? Any feedback or memorable moments that stand out?
The most meaningful reactions have been from people who connected with the idea behind the identity rather than only the visual execution. For us, one of the most memorable moments was seeing Black Clouds recognized internationally after spending so much time developing the thinking behind it. It reminded us that a strong identity can communicate something very specific while still leaving enough space for people to interpret and experience it in their own way.
8 For those aspiring to achieve similar success, what advice would you offer to help them not only thrive in their industries but also craft compelling, award-worthy entries? Are there specific practices, mindsets, or strategies you believe are key?
Start with the problem, not the award. A strong project should exist because it solves a real problem and has a clear reason behind every decision. Once the work is strong, document the thinking behind it clearly. We also believe in editing. Not every good idea belongs in the final work. Sometimes the strongest result comes from removing everything that does not need to be there. And when submitting to awards, present the work as a story, not just a collection of beautiful images.
9 The creative industry is constantly evolving. How do you view these changes, and where do you hope to position yourself in the future?
Change has always been part of the creative industry. Tools, platforms, technologies, and expectations continue to evolve, but the fundamentals of good creative work remain: understanding people, finding a meaningful idea, and expressing it with clarity. We want FOURP to grow alongside that change without losing its foundation. In the future, we hope to position FOURP as a Saudi creative agency capable of developing brands with a strong point of view while contributing to the growing creative landscape of the region and connecting it with the wider world.
10 Entering awards can be daunting for many, especially those just starting out. What would you say to individuals who have limited experience, or are hesitant to showcase their work in competitions? How can they build confidence and see the value in participating?
Do not wait until you feel completely ready. We are a relatively young agency ourselves, and entering competitions was initially a way for us to put our work outside our own circle and learn from the wider creative community. An award should not be the reason you create good work, but it can be a valuable way to challenge your standards, document your process, and see your work from a different perspective. Submit the work you genuinely believe in. The experience itself is part of the growth.
11 Creativity thrives on community. What message would you like to share with fellow creatives, marketers, and advertising professionals?
Keep sharing ideas, keep questioning the obvious, and keep making room for different perspectives. The creative industry becomes stronger when we learn from each other rather than working in isolation. We also believe the region has an incredible creative opportunity ahead of it. There is a lot of culture, history, ambition, and new thinking coming from Saudi Arabia and the wider region. We hope to see more of that translated into meaningful creative work and shared with the world.
12 Winning is a team effort in many cases. Is there someone or a group of people you’d like to dedicate this achievement to, and why?
We would like to dedicate this achievement to everyone who has been part of FOURP’s journey so far: our clients, collaborators, supporters, and especially our family. As brothers building the agency together, we are grateful for the trust and patience that have allowed us to keep developing our craft. This award belongs to that journey as much as it belongs to one project.
13 If you could describe your award-winning entry in one sentence, what would it be and why?
Black Clouds is a brand built around the moment before something happens, turning anticipation into a distinctive visual and experiential language. We chose this because anticipation is at the heart of the concept, and it shaped the identity beyond the logo into a complete brand experience.
14 Finally, what’s next for you? Any exciting projects or upcoming goals that you’d like to share with us and the audience?
We are continuing to build FOURP and developing a new generation of brand projects across Saudi Arabia. Our focus is not simply on doing more work, but on doing more meaningful work, projects where strategy, identity, and experience come together as one clear idea. We also want to continue taking Saudi creative work to international platforms, learning from the global creative community, and building FOURP into a studio with a lasting point of view. There is still a lot ahead, and in many ways, we feel we are only getting started.
