Synergy led a project geared towards enabling Mental Illness Education ACT (MIEACT) to connect with the local and wider community in a greater capacity, building upon MIEACT’s reputation and bringing greater awareness to the incredible role it plays across the region. We began with extensive stakeholder engagement with interviews conducted with a variety of stakeholders from the education sector, volunteers, board members and program staff. This was supported through brand workshops and desktop research into MIEACT’s current processes, brand and communication approach. Using a co-design approach we developed MIEACT’s brand story ‘See Yourself in Our Stories’. Through sharing stories we provide a window into the lives of people living with mental illness and a mirror to help identify similar experiences. Using the newly positioned brand story we developed a refined brand identity and communication framework to capture the attention of the community and provide the foundations for ongoing engagement. Working in collaboration with the creativeXpeople team, MIEACT’s capability was assessed to ensure the result was fit for purpose and achievable for the team to deliver. This included identifying key areas of improvement and roll descriptions to confidently rollout the brand strategy and communication framework. The delivery of this project streamlines MIEACT’s messaging, strengthening their presence within the community. The result positions MIEACT well to reach a wide audience and to build their ability to meet their goals - to break the stigma towards mental illness and provide the tools to have a safe conversation around mental health.
