Etta, powered by Deem, is enterprise-class travel software that empowers corporate travelers to book and manage all parts of their business trips, including flights, hotel, and ground transportation. Corporate travel technology has been reluctant to evolve the way consumer travel tech has, and not all business travel platforms even offer these primary components of a trip. But Etta does all that, and so much more.
The name Etta is an acronym for Easier To Travel Anywhere. And by that we mean, for everyone. We designed Etta around travelers — not finance teams more concerned with expenses. Our team used a human-centered design approach to understand travelers, their needs, and how they use technology. That discovery process helped us understand that not all travelers can be treated the same.
So, we designed Etta for people who may have vision impairments, hearing impairment or deafness, motor or cognitive impairments, or other cognitive conditions, so they can more fully participate in business travel. And these features don’t just help people who may need a bit more assistance, they help everyone. (Raise your hand if you’ve ever made the text size on your smartphone just a little bit bigger.)
For direction, we used the guidelines for accessibility in web design and applications that are available from the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), the international community that develops web standards.
Etta for iOS meets Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1) level AA compliance. Our Android version of Etta will also be AA-level compliant when it’s released in August 2021. And we’re going to continue to prioritize accessibility as we enhance our full platform through 2022.
We can’t find another business travel software that offers this kind of accessibility. Etta is making it easier to travel anywhere, for more travelers than ever.
The power of the Web is in its universality.
Access by everyone regardless of disability is an essential aspect.
— Tim Berners-Lee, W3C Director, World Wide Web inventor
