Tidal-lounged Zone : Futures Ark 2024 Yun-Chia-Chia-Ying Visual Art Link

The "Yunlin-Chiayi-Tainan Visual Arts Connection" jointly organized by Yunlin County, Chiayi City, Chiayi County, and Tainan City has entered its 5th year. Following the 2023 "Drift Zone" theme, Yunlin's exhibition area presents the "Future Ark" project, exploring environmental and ecological concerns through contemporary art with both international and local perspectives. The exhibition runs from November 2-24, 2024, at the Yunlin County Cultural Tourism Department Exhibition Hall.
This year's themes for the four regions are: Yunlin County's "Drift Zone - Future Ark," Chiayi City's "Dear Big Tree," Chiayi County's "Deep Cultivation in Chiayi - Meiling-ing," and Tainan City's "Kaga City Friendship Exchange Memorial: Elementary School Original Paintings × Kutani Ware Exhibition - Earth." The Yunlin exhibition features curator Chiu Chun-ta, Taiwan West Art Association chairman Ting Jen-tung, Japanese artist Sugihara Nobuyuki, and 12 international artist groups, along with local youth partners.
The "Future Ark" project explores three sub-themes: "Boundary Connection - Anchorage," "Living Connection - Learning," and "Future Connection - Navigation." Exhibition highlights include "Flying Dreams," an installation using 90% recycled marine debris, addressing ocean pollution issues; "Sea Wave Ark - Light Nest of Hanging Oysters" at Taixi Haikouzhuang Art Gallery, connecting local fishing history with environmental awareness; and "Sustainable Media - Co-creating Mountain and Sea Sounds of Yunlin," a landscape installation at Gukeng Creative Life Academy.
Over five years, the four regions have established strong collaborative relationships, offering unique cross-boundary exhibitions for local residents. Cultural Tourism Department Director Chen Pi-chun notes the evolution from having chief curators to this year's two-year project with local curators, appreciating local enterprises' support in promoting contemporary art in Yunlin.
