Breast cancer awareness campaigns often rely on clinical statistics or soft pink branding, but the Mammo Monster print campaign took a bolder, more disruptive approach to ensure its message couldn’t be ignored. Instead of another forgettable PSA, SFC Group created a visually striking, character-driven campaign designed to turn fear into familiarity and action.
At the heart of the campaign was the Mammo Monster, a larger-than-life character designed to resemble a breast, complete with a single eye, symbolizing observation, screening, and early detection. This unexpected, highly visual approach gave fear a face, making the often-unspoken anxieties around mammograms tangible, relatable, and even a little humorous.
The print execution included posters, direct mail, and educational materials, all reinforcing the “Catch the Mammo Monster” activation and the importance of yearly screenings. The high-contrast visuals, oversized typography, and cheeky messaging made the campaign instantly recognizable, while the inclusion of “Peek-a-Boobs” — a playful headline designed to spark curiosity — helped grab attention and encourage women to learn more.
Beyond awareness, the print materials worked as engagement tools, driving traffic to MammoMonster.com, where visitors could access testimonial videos, a downloadable awareness kit, and an interactive activation to claim a real-life Mammo Monster plushie.
By leveraging in-your-face design, humor, and strategic messaging, the Mammo Monster print campaign cut through the noise, proving that breast cancer awareness doesn’t have to be predictable to be powerful.
